The Taren Pointbased company won the HIA NSW Renovations & Additions Project $200,001 -$600,000 by Builders Steel Directfor their project at Haberfield.

Judges said, “This renovation on a small federation home displays great attention to detail and workmanship when working with old and new. The design flows from original to new seamlessly without looking dated and compliments the modern renovations throughout, delivering a great finish.”

Congratulating Benja Buildon such an outstanding achievement, HIA Executive Director -NSW, David Bare, said the awards recognise excellence in housing innovation, material selection, design, construction and services to the NSW residential building industry.

“HIA is committed to recognising the outstanding achievements of our members. It is encouraging to see that support and commitment to excellence for these awards has yet again been remarkable. Each year a high calibre of entries is presented, reflecting the exceptional standard HIA members place on workmanship, innovation and design thereby raising the bar and making the judging all the more difficult.”

“Major winners tonight can look forward to progressing to HIA’s national awards next year and we wish them every success.”

The awards were held in front of a sell-out audience at The Star. Special guests included HIA’s National President, Ross Lang; HIA’s Managing Director, Shane Goodwin; HIA’s NSW President, Cathy Inglis; and Paul Manks, Regional General Manager, CSR Lightweight Products.

The MC for the evening was comedian Shane Bourne. To open the evening, there was a performance by Takoiz and following the awards presentation, guests were entertained by the Groove Academy.

The Association’s awards were a tremendous display of the housing industry’s capacity, innovation and resilience in a very busy NSW residential market.

Heritage Renovation in Woollahra http://www.benjabuild.com/news/heritage-renovation-in-woollahra http://www.benjabuild.com/news/heritage-renovation-in-woollahra This Woollahra Dual Terrace House restoration was not just a challenge, but a work of pride for Benja Build.

The project required particularly close working relationship with both the council as well as the client. Careful attention to the detail to preserve the vernacular of Sydney's iconic suburb.

But this house was not just a heritage restoration.  To the rear of the residence some freedom was allowed to fabricate the entertainment area.  A more contemporary approach was taken to fully utilise the limited yard space and extend the living area to the outdoors in a seamless manner.

We love working with timber materials and this house allowed us to express our skill and expertise in working with this beautiful material. This is particularly seen in the floor boards and timber balustrading.
